Lead based paint was commonly used on the interior and exterior of both residential and commercial buildings prior to 1978. Lead Based Paint was banned from use in residential houses in 1978 and yet it continues to present a hazard today.  The presence of lead in all types of building structures can present a health hazards and result in contamination to the soil and groundwater outside a building if not properly maintained.
